Scholarships

MASC is proud to announce the availability of scholarships for the 2010-2011 school year. This year there are four available scholarships for deserving students (dependent child or spouse) to further their educations. Please click on the link to download the application for the scholarship for which you would like to apply.

 Who may apply for the  scholarships? 

The Laura Stewart Scholarship is for the child of active duty or retired Coast Guard members.* (There are two $1,000 scholarships available.)

The First Command Foundation Scholarship is for the child or spouse of active duty, retired, reserve and national guard military personnel and GS employee dependents.* (There is one $1,000 scholarship available.)

The MASC Military Spouse Scholarship is for the spouse of active duty, retired, reserve and national guard military personnel. This schlarship can be used for undergraduate, graduate, or trade education. * (There is one $500 scholarship available.)

Amounts for 2010-2011 Academic Year   

  Are these scholarships annual or for four years? 

The scholarships are for one year. 

 How may the scholarship be used? 

The scholarship money can be used for tuition, books, room, board, or university fees.  The check is sent directly to the financial office of the university the recipient will attend.  

  When is the application due?

 The form and other documents are due no later than May 1, 2010.

*Note:  This year, the First Command scholarship also requires applicants to complete an online training seminar, FCEF Basic Finance 4 All.  The link for the course is http://www.fcef.com/education/

It’s free, and it should take about 30 minutes.  At the end, print out a certificate of completion and include it in the application package.
